In this generation many people find it easy to make their own music as the equipment is easily accessible. My space and youtube has helped in the rise in the broadcasting of peoples music. These sites have made it more common and easy for people to express their feelings and thoughts through their music and lyrics. This help the audiance to engage into different styles of music. This increased the rise of sub-categories within different music genres.
People post their own music on these websites mainly to get noticed within the music industry.

Learning Music
After speaking to some students studying music we realised that many people play musical instruments, however a lot of them use the insternet sites such as youtube to learn. This shows that now for the 21st century learning an instrument isnt very time comsuming or expensive as from a click of a button you can learn.
Sites such as youtube help people learn music as the publish videos that can teach you all about the instruments.
youtube also teaches people how to play specific songs so there is no need for people buying sheet music to learn.

We thought that it will be usefull to add a short interview from mrs Griffin, head teacher of Greenford High School as she helped introduce music technology A-Level in 2007. we asked her a few questions on why she decided to do this and how she might think it will helpp the future students of Greenford High School.
On Wednesday we did a few clips of karishma Vithlani playing the saxaphone and a small interview with her. As she is a very talented young muscian hoping to further her career in the world of music we have decided to follow the life of her to see how she intends to suceed.

Neil Portnow's Interview
This is a interview conducted on Neil Portnow who talks about Starting a Career in the Music Industry.

This music video has been added onto our bolg as part of the Indian music section of the production. We hav arranged an interveiw with the songs music producer, Amit Rai. He was also a Greenford High School student, therefore we thought it would be good to get some tips for him to share with present Greenford High students on how to get into the music industry. We have planned to ask him questions on how he got himself into the music industry, who inspired him and many other questions based on his career.

On monday we did an interview with Mrs Handley, who is the head of music at greenford high. we asked her a few questions on how she helps the students in the school studying music. this was helpful as as we got an insight on what teachers thought about futher careers in music and whether it is increasing or not. also this interview gives advise to young people who want to have a career in music.
On Tuesday we went to Themes Valley University who are a specialised in music. we spoke to Pritesh kotecha who is a student currently studying Music Technology and is hoping to continue it as a fulltime career in the future, we got his views on the topic and advise he would give to young people who also want to study music.

Outline
Our main objective for this production is to generate a music documentary that incorporates the main conventions of a documentary. We chose the music industry because it is something we all have great amount of knowledge on and can adapt to any problems arose within the production, another reason for the selection is that the audience obtain a sense of diversion through the music they listen to they embrace a new world which usually makes them feel good; this is generally known as escapism.
We had accumulated knowledge from lessons based around the production and conventions of a documentary and are now constructing our own documentary similar to our previously studied documentaries. The documentary would also consist of all the possible targets of a production generator and they are to educate, inform, persuade and entertain the audience on the subject of the maturity of music. In the course of this documentary we seek for certain stereotypes placed upon the subject of music and challenge them also showing an alternative side rather than the audience believing in the typical stereotype. The focal stereotype placed on certain music is that it gives a base to violence and to some extreme crime; we intend to pinpoint this stereotype, place arguments against these stereotypes and present this viewpoint in a different manner. Another objective is to persuade the target audience which are mainly teenagers to further music as a career and take it up as a course in university we also explain the benefits of this.
Primarily we are going to concentrate on the progress of the music industry and the expansion that has changed the way we live and our attitude towards certain subjects. Keeping in mind we will also talk about all the people who have committed their whole life and career for their passion in relation to music.

- Brief o what will take place; 'The music industry has vastly increased from being a socialisation topic to a common career choice for many teenagers today'. Music is a part of everyday life for everyone, you cannot go a day with avoiding it, shops play it, radio stations have music, adverts play jingles, adverts on TV have music. There are also many music channels that involve teenagers (channel U 'Sky 360' lets people send in their songs to get noticed)

week 1
On Monday we planned the opening of our documentary and wrote out the questions for a few interviews. This helped us as we now know how much filming we need to do and what we need to film. It also helped us to estimate how much more time we need to spend on filiming so that we can start editing as soon as possible as editing takes a lot of time.

On Wednesday we went into the music block(F Block) and did some filming. We filmed Karishma playing a few songs on the piano and recorded her playing from different angles and positions so that when we are editing we can chose the shot that goes best. We also filmed a year 10 student and a year 9 student who both play the piano.
On Thursday we went into Southall to the Dominion Arts and Culture Centre as we know that they run a few music classes. We spoke to the receptionist who gave us some advice on who we should see to interview. We picked up quite a few leaflets on different music classes as we could use them as still shots in the documentary. As the Ealing Music Service runs in the Dominion Centre we decided to go and ask them if we could interview a member of staff. We got an interview with a guy called Noel who works part time with the Ealing music service, he works 2 days a week and the rest of the time he is recording and producing. He plays guitar, sings and owns his own recording studio. Noel has worked with a few artists such as Atomic Kitten and Lemar. He has also done a degree in music technology so we found that very helpful as he was able to give us a lot of information on things relevant to our documentary.
We also went to Bina Musicals to ask a few questions but were asked to go back next week as the person who would be able to help us most and answer the questions best was going to london.

Careers in musicMusic is such a broad field - there is the music industry and music itself. So there are lots and lots of choices for a career within music. It's not just about being a pop star - we have music lawyers, admin support staff, sound engineering. It is a valid choice to make as a career.
If your child is mad about music they may be thinking about further study or even a career in music. At this point many parents ask: is there really a future in music? Today music is a major industry with a wide range of opportunities, employing an estimated 130,000 full-time in the UK alone. Your child may want to study music for the love of it, or to pursue a career as a singer, instrumentalist, or composer, but the possibilities don't stop there. Whatever the level of skills your child has achieved, there are career paths open, whether they decide to leave school at sixteen or go on to university. Whatever their interest there are jobs in teaching or music therapy, production, promotion, management, as well as performance.

♪ Regardless if the person likes music or not it is involved some way in that person’s life; whether it’s by playing an instrument, listening to songs on the radio, studying music, or even by hearing a song being played in a store.

we knew that we will need to include some interviews in our documentary opening. this meant that we needed to find some people to interview.
we produced a letter to send out to music companies around london; this included recording studios, schools, universities and youth groups.

Starting off the Practical Production
For the practical production we are working in a group of 4 people which includes Rupal, Karishma, Jyoti and Bhavishree.
Since October we have had ideas running through our minds about what we are going to do for the production.
After deciding that we were going to produce a something to do with music (as it was something that we were all familiar with) we started thinking about the form of the production. We thought that a documentary would be the suitable thing to do as we can use the knowledge that we gained in learning documentaries in module 2 to help us produce something that we were familiar with. Also because it would be ideal to make a documentary about the development of music as it can inform, educate and entertain the audience.
As time went on our ideas about the documentary had changed. We started off just wanting to do something about music and then realised to succeed we needed it to be specific to a certain thing within the music industry. This made us consider the way the media portray the music industry and how they believe that only violence may arise from the topic. ‘Music has been blamed for the increasing drug abuse... antisocial behaviour... lack of respect for authority’ finally we thought that talking about the development of music and how it has changed from a small socialisation subject to a full time career for many young people today, and how many teenagers tackle many obstacles to further a career in the subject they love and how schools and teachers help them to do this.
